About Us

Buy Goods That Do Good.

You're here, on our webpage, because you think there might be a better way to purchase things that you need or want every day. And you're absolutely right, there is.

We all have to wear clothes and accessories, so why not wear ones that empower globally and give back locally? Think of Ubuntu Goods as the bridge that connects you to women in India, Thailand, Uganda, Asia and Haiti who are overcoming horrendous life challenges like human trafficking, poverty, and homelessness. By purchasing the products that these women have created, you are helping them create a new life for themselves and their families. You can also feel good that a portion of your purchase is donated to a local charity and helps to uplift our own community.

Meet our Founder & CCE (Chief Conscious Entrepeneur)

Hi, I'm April, a full-time mom of 3 beautiful children. I have a Bachelors Degree in Business Management and a background in sales and account management. My husband, 3 children and I live in Kalamazoo, MI and enjoy exploring the natural beauty all around us in Southwest Michigan.

I feel so blessed to be able to stay home with my children but have always had a yearning to start a business that would give back to our community, give me a sense of purpose beyond motherhood, and help instill good values in my children. I started by creating a fundraiser for a local women's shelter whose mission was to lift women out of homelessness and/or abusive situations.  I collected items such as soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hygiene products, etc., because I realized that without these "simple" items, women may not have the confidence needed to re-enter society, and may become trapped in a cycle of poverty and dependence.  The fundraiser was a huge success, and the feeling of helping to empower women so close to home made me want to do more.

I spoke with the directors at the shelter and learned that what non-profits really need is funding. They need more funds to carry out all of the great things they do for these women.  I decided that the best way to expand my reach into the community was to start a company that would commit to donating a significant portion of all proceeds to local charities. I had also been hearing about ethical shopping and fair trade a lot and after extensive research and help from my wonderful friends and family, I decided to begin sourcing hand-made jewelry and gifts produced by women artisans around the world under only the most ethical working conditions. And that's how Ubuntu Goods was born.

Thanks for stopping by! If you're interested in how you can support our mission, we'd love for you to stick around!
