As a mom of 3 beautiful children who have been in and out of daycare their whole lives, I know how important it is to know your kids are safe and happy when you're not there. One of the hardest things I've done was having to drop my 3 month old off at a brand new daycare so that I could go back to work. I tried 3 different daycares before I finally found one where I could trust that he was safe and happy. It was SO HARD. I'm beyond grateful to now be able to work from home on my own time and be with my kids every day.
That's why when I heard about one of the cooperatives we work with having a daycare onsite, I was impressed and excited to learn more. The mothers in the cooperative are able to work to take care of their families, while knowing their children are being looked after, just around the corner.
Here are some precious pictures of the children napping at the cooperative daycare:

And here are some pictures at pickup time:

Health care, paid maternity leave, retirement pensions, and daycare are all part of the membership package. The cooperative even has social workers on staff to assist the artisans in addressing their personal needs, from opening a bank account to situations of domestic violence and dealing with HIV/AIDS. I am so glad to bring you a happy story about this fair trade organization that you are helping support.
From My Heart to Yours,
April
