I cannot help but smile every time I pick up this book: The Book of Joy by the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, and Douglas Abrams.

This post is in no way meant to be political or to put down any of our political leaders. It is just my humble opinion, that there may be other leaders that we can turn to in hopes of finding peace and joy in times of turbulence. As our name "Ubuntu" conveys, we feel that we are who we are because of humanity as a whole, and not just one race, sex, or religion. And we believe in the months and years to come, we need to have a greater focus on all of humanity if we are to overcome the inevitable challenges ahead of our country.

This book is told like a story of a journey, and less like a self-help book which makes it so enjoyable for the reader. They effortlessly and lightheartedly teach lessons that all of us can learn something from. "The Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, are both great spiritual masters of our time, but they are also moral leaders who transcend their own traditions and speak always from a concern for humanity as a whole".

The dialogue between these two leaders who have seen more pain and suffering than most of us will in our lifetimes, is so lighthearted, humorous and JOYful...you can't help but smile along. I felt like I was in the Dharmsala with them, a fly on the wall, listening to an intimate conversation between friends.

This book has been a gift to my soul and I hope that it can bring you joy as well. Please let me know your thoughts below if you read it.

Love, joy, and peace to you all,

April
