We bought a bed!

A few days ago my husband and I decided to pull the trigger on a new bed. We've been saving and really need a California king, as our space is quite limited with 2 kids and 2 dogs.

So we went out to find our new bed. Wow, is it hard for 2 people to decide on a bed, haha.

We finally got it narrowed down to 2 - both nice but one was 100% reclaimed or recycled wood. How cool is that? So we started thinking - I wonder if there are other eco-friendly options??

We are so incredibly excited to find a small business in Arizona where they HAND MAKE the beds, using sustainably harvested wood, and provide jobs to people in the US in their building site. Triple score! (Pereida-Rice in case you're interested.)

Then we started looking for a lightweight bedspread (we live in Southern California). We narrowed it down to a few and found out that one was 100% fair trade! (West Elm if you're interested.)

So for a bit more money we got a handmade bed, made using sustainable wood, and for about $15 more got a fair trade bedspread.

While we can't always make sustainable, fair trade, eco-friendly purchasing decisions, this time, we DID IT!
